Our extended tours offer a chance to view the stunning 444-metre drop of Friel Falls (Harmony Falls), picnic on the hot rocks of Hotham Sound, or swim in the unspoiled beauty of Hidden Lagoon.
About Our Boat
Our tour guides you right into the action. With the exception of expert kayakers, there’s no better way to get this close to the awesome power of ‘The Skook.’ We use a 27 foot rigid inflatable, the same vessel trusted by the Canadian Coast Guard. Our twin 150 horsepower engines are powerful enough to handle the Skookumchuck currents with ease.
Our boat comfortably seats up to 8 guests. We are Transport Canada certified to seat up to 10, however, it does require 4 guests to get cozy on some of our double seats.
About Skookumchuck Narrows
The naturally occurring phenomenon is created when up to 200 billion gallons of water a day is forced through a narrow ocean passageway to form one of the fastest tidal currents in the world. At its strongest, Skookumchuck currents can reach 30 km/hr (16 knots) and vary as much as 3 metres (9 ft) on either side. This is rivalled only by Vancouver Island’s Nakwakto Rapids and Norway’s Saltstraumen. You’re truly experiencing one of the great natural wonders of the world.
Private tour bookings must be paid up front. Cancellations must be received 7 days in advance.
