The naturally occurring phenomenon is created when up to 200 billion gallons of water is forced through the narrow ocean passageway each day to form one of the fastest tidal currents in the world. At its strongest, Skookumchuck currents can reach 30 km/hr (16 knots) and vary as much as 3 metres (9 ft) on either side. This is rivalled only by Vancouver Island’s Nakwakto Rapids, and Norway’s Saltstraumen. You’re truly experiencing one of the great natural wonders of the world.

Our one-hour tours offer so much more than a quick trip in and out of the rapids. We aim to take you where the locals go for a full hour on the water. Not all tours will. And not all touring boats are able to safely get you an up-close view of ‘The Skook.’ We go beyond Skookumchuck Narrows to navigate Seal Rock, Hidden Lagoon, East Point Island, and to view ancient Indigenous paintings. A trip to the Sunshine Coast isn’t complete without visiting Skookumchuck Narrows. Bring the whole family, our tour accommodates ages 5 and up.
